The selection of the fall All-State teams are kicking off this week in high school sports in Mississippi. The All-State Team is different from the All-Star Team. While the All-Star Team features the best athletes in the state, the All-State Team features the best 9th - 12th grade athletes in the region.
The regions are divided into 3, representing the north, central, and south Mississippi. The north is the 662 All-State Team. The middle of the state is the 601 All-State Team. The south is the 228 region.
Students that are selected will compete in the Fall All-State Tournament. The tournament will be played in Mid-September through October. The tournament features double elimination meaning the first team to loose twice goes home.
The remaining two teams will play against each other in the Fall All-State Championship.
The most anticipated tournament of the year, there can only be one winner and only one area can brag as not only running Mississippi but also as having the best high school athletes.
No doubt this is also a major opportunity for students to earn offers, scholarships, and NIL deals as recruits and sponsors will be watching.
The tournament will also affect the Mississippi High School Players Ranking, the official statewide ranking of high school players, as the rankings will be updated weekly during the tournament.
