Hattiesburg, MS- The Mississippi Association of Players has released its first ranking of the Mississippi Basketball Standings 2025-26 Season.

The new King of Basketball in Mississippi is Meridian High School's Power Forward 3 star athlete Joe Horne. Joe will be a senior this upcoming season graduating in the Class of 2026.

The new Queen of Basketball in Mississippi is Quitman High School's Shooting Guard 3 star athlete Jayhla Dubose. Jahyla will be a junior this upcoming season graduating in the Class of 2027.

This spring, both Joe and Jahyla received the highest honor a student athlete in Mississippi can receive, being selected as a state all-star, a honor that less than 1% of student athletes can achieve.

During the Mississippi Basketball All-Stars at Tougaloo College, Joe Horne was the only player to score a double double during the all-star game. He had 17 points, 10 rebounds, shot 7 of 13 field goals, & was 3 for 3 from the free throw line.

Joe's mom was in tears hearing her son was ranked #1 basketball athlete in the state! "I feel like crying but it's something that he wanted to do since he was about 5 years old," said Rose Mosely. "I am grateful, determined, and staying positive. He did it!" she went on to say.

During the Mississippi Basketball All-Stars at Tougaloo College, Jahyla was one of 3 girls who had scored a game high of 11 points during the girls all-star game. She had 11 points, 2 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 assist, shot 4 of 10 field goals, 1 of 3 from the 3 point line, and was 2 of 5 from the free throw line.

Jahyla's head basketball coach, Coach Jennie Vance was overjoyed and filled with emotion. "I think that Jahyla is so special. I have coached some really good players but I said the summer before her freshman year that she is hands down the best player I have ever coached!" Coach Vance said.

Coach Vance went to on say, "Hands down the good Lord gifted her with amazing ability but He also gave her a great work ethic and a thirst to get better!"
