CLARKSDALE, Miss. (MAP) - Sunday night was filled with excitement across Mississippi as high school sports stole the spotlight. With all eyes glued to the MAP Podcast live stream from all across Mississippi, the #1 pick for the state's baseball all-stars at Rust College this upcoming Saturday was finally in.

The head coaches each choose a number 1-28. Coach Dillard of Ridgeland High School chose 6. Coach McGregory of Clarksdale chose 14. Each number chosen by the coach was the number they played in during their baseball years. The special guest, the honorable Dr. Johnny DuPree chose 21, which meant Coach McGregory got the first pick.

Both coaching staffs had already decided whoever got the first pick would pick who they considered to be the best player on the board. They both was going to choose the same player. For Coach Dillard and Coach Braxton Reed, it was going to be a steal, especially to keep from the opposing team. For Coach McGregory, it was his secret weapon.

"With the #1 pick, I select Terrell "TJ" Johnson of Clarksdale High School," said Coach Mack. Yes, he selected his own player. And if he hadn't no doubt the other team would had picked him first.

Terrell over night just became the face of high school baseball. The 6'3 216lbs senior was considered to be one of the best players in Mississippi. Terrell among his many accomplishments received the "Pitcher of the Year" award. He was featured on the first team all district 5A team as well.
